Our Services Will NOT Suit These People
We don’t want to sell our services to anyone that isn’t set on working with us.
Here’s some things that would make us a bad fit for some.
Set in Their Ways
At Pack-9, we believe there is always more to learn about dog training and behaviour modification. We strive to improve every day.
If a client comes to us and believes they know exactly what is wrong with their dog and how we should go about fixing it, this person isn’t for us.
It may sound obvious, but there are plenty of people that would like to dictate their dogs training to us (because it’s been going so well for them so far…).
More often than not, a simple complaint like pulling on the lead, is due to more than just not being strict enough. An owner that has not managed to teach their dog to walk nicely on a lead, often for years, is usually missing more than a good heel walking exercise. In this instance, the dog is usually over whelmed, nervous or frustrated and unfulfilled. There is always something else missing from the picture, if you don’t want to hear it? Then this is not the service for you. We will always be honest, even if it isn’t what you want to hear.
Quick Fixes
If you are looking for a magical result in an hour or less… this is not the service for you.
When we put together a training plan, there is always a process involved. You may have contacted us about your dog’s reactivity towards other dogs for example. Your first session most likely will not include other dogs. We may well have the ability to punish your dog until the barking stops like so many dog training “Gurus” you have seen on Facebook, but it’s not fair nor effective. The effects won’t last. That’s a lie, they will, and not in a good way.
Real dog training takes work and consistency. You will likely see great progress within a few weeks if you’re consistent with your homework. Overnight, one and done, magical wand wave fixes? Definitely not, they don’t exist.
Unmotivated People
If you believe you are the type of person to skip homework most days of the week only to show up to training with less than good things to say about your progress, please, do not enquire.
Be honest with yourself, can you make a commitment to your dog? To yourself?
You have to really want change and put in the work to achieve it. An hour or two a week at your training session will make some difference, but you will hit a plateau very quickly.
It is our job to help build our clients confidence as well as their dogs, absolutely. We will do our best to show you what you are capable of and we know there will be some days it’s hard to find the motivation. Dog training is never linear, there will be days where your dog seems to backslide. That along with the beautiful weather we have here in Scotland can make it difficult to want to get off the couch, never mind play a game of tug in the mud.
Regardless, the work must be done. It’s absolutely worth it; you will look back on your time with us proud of yourself and your dog. Do you think you can push through challenges, motivate yourself and stay consistent even when you don’t feel like it?
If the answer is no, then it’s been lovely talking to you. I wish you all the best.
Chris
